Spaces

The Cité de l’Accordéon et des Patrimoines is housed in an exceptional building, the former branch of the Banque de France in Tulle.

The development of the Cité was entrusted to the Terreneuve architectural firm, which designed a project that respected the existing building while adapting it to its new purpose. The project incorporates two extensions, visible on the right-hand side of the façade and to the rear of the existing building. With their distinctly contemporary character, these additions make it possible to incorporate an auditorium space and ensure full accessibility (elevator and staircase).

In addition to the permanent exhibition spaces, the Cité also offers areas designed for exchange and shared experiences.

The auditorium

Concerts, performances, talks, artistic residences, rehearsals, conferences, meetings…  the Cité’s auditorium hosts a wide range of activities in a flexible space open onto the museum’s garden.

This space can work independently from the museum, outside opening hours, and is available for rental. Find out more about organizing your events in the section "Space rental"

The workshop

A modular space, the workshop is a meeting place where craftspeople, artists, and makers engage with the public. It is designed to host demonstrations and creative workshops.

Forecourt, terrace, garden

Open to the city, the Cité’s forecourt is designed as a space for encounters between visitors, local residents and passer-by, a place to pause and connect.

It is structured around a wooden installation that serves as a front step, an access ramp for visitors with reduced mobility, and tiered seating. Like a small amphitheater, this structure can host performances, shows, and concerts.

Visitors can also enjoy the terrace, located at the rear of the building, which provides access to the garden onto which the auditorium opens.
